Abstract: The star chromatic index of a graph G is the smallest integer k for which G has a proper edge k-coloring without bichromatic paths and cycles of length four. In this talk, we establish the upper bounds of the star chromatic index for graphs, planar graphs. k-minor free graphs, outer planar graphs, etc. In particular, we show that every outer planar graph G with maximum degree has a inquality, which improves a known result that for any outer planar graph G.
