Abstract: It was conjectured by Painleve that there exists noncollision singularities in Newtonian N-body problem for N>3, i.e. initial conditions that leads to solutions that escape to infinity within finite time and without any collisions. In this talk, we review some existence work on this topic and explain our construction of noncollision singularities in the N=4 case.

The brief introduction to the reporter: Xue Jinxin, the associate professor of Department of mathematics and Qiu Chengtong mathematics center of Tsinghua University. He graduated from the Department of mathematics of Nanjing University in 2008 and obtained his doctorate from the Department of mathematics at University of Maryland in 2013. He was a researcher at MSRI in the fall of 2013 and Dickson Instructor at University of Chicago from 2014 to 2017. Since the autumn of 2017, he entered the Tsinghua University and was selected as the fourteenth batches of Youth Thousand Program.
