报告人简介：段海豹，男，1956年2月出生，1987年在北京大学获博士学位，博士导师姜伯驹；1987年到中国科学院，系统科学研究所从事博士后研究，1989年9月出站。随后，在巴塞罗那自治大学、爱丁堡大学任教及从事合作科研。1991年回国, 在北京大学任副教授，1995年晋升教授；1996年授予博士生导师资格。2001年到中国科学院数学研究所从事百人计划工作。1997年，获国家教委科技进步二等奖；1997年，获国氏博士后奖；1997年，评为国家教委优秀跨世纪人才；2000年，入选中国科学院百人计划；2005年，获中国数学会陈省身数学奖。
段海豹的主要研究领域是代数拓扑学、微分拓扑学与代数几何学。主要贡献包括：推广了经典的Bosuk-Ulam定理；解决了双切球问题；拓扑群自映射的Brown猜想；关于Poincare流形的Kreck问题。解决了Schubert计数演算基础 （即Hilbert第15问题）的核心课题Schubert簇的乘法法则。
